Back “Behind the Chair”!

Award-Winning Salon Owner
Returns to Her First Love

BEDFORD, NH—Heather Owen, owner and art director of H2O Salon Spa Boutique, is thrilled to announce that she’s back “behind the chair” at the award-winning salon in the Bedford Grove shopping center on South River Road.

After a long bout with illness related to undiagnosed Lyme disease, Owen is looking forward to returning to the salon and designing hair besides continuing to manage the business.

“Hair design is my passion,” she said. “I’m excited to be back in a hands-on position behind the chair besides running the business, and look forward to seeing all of my clients.

“Over 18 years, H2O has earned numerous state and national awards. I believe it’s because of our philosophy of treating every client as a VIP, our culture of ongoing education for our stylists, and that we use and offer only the best, most natural hair and skin-care products in our salon,” Owen said.

In 2020, the salon spa expanded to include an upscale boutique with jewelry, clothing from international designers, high-end handbags, and other accessories you won’t find anywhere else.

Accolades include being named Best in New Hampshire three times by New Hampshire Magazine; being selected by Elle magazine as one of the Top 100 Salons in the U.S.; and sweeping three categories in the NH A-List City Voter competition from NHPTV. The salon was named a Business of Excellence by New Hampshire Business Review. H2O Salon Spa has been featured on WMUR TV’s New Hampshire Chronicle, and spotlighted in Boston Voyager magazine online.

You, in Living, Blooming Color

Spring is busting out all over, from head to toe. Don’t we all look forward to beating the winter blues and grays with blooming color?

Master Stylist Selma says color is very fashion-forward this year, with lots of pastels and other trending colors—just as in clothes and spring accessories.

“Lilac is very big for spring, as is silver, pink—not fuchsia, but softer, baby pink,” she says.

Think Easter eggs, tulips, the movie Frozen (still big), teal, orange or raspberry sherbet, fantasy colors—My Little Pony. Even polka dots if you please.

Color may be temporary, or semi-permanent. But, especially after winter’s drying heat, don’t try this at home. H2O Salon Spa has the know-how and the professional products that can treat and moisturize your hair as it’s colored.

Color for the Ages

Don’t worry, ladies of a certain age—if you’re not ready to mix it up unicorn-style, there are well, not 50, but many trendy shades of gray including silver, and they’re fabulous.

According to Selma, the new grays are a beautiful way to transition your tresses if you’re tired of covering up those telltale strands every three to four weeks.

“It’s a way of enhancing what you have with minimum upkeep. We match your undertone, so the color can fade to a warm hue, or to a blond. You want to keep the natural tone so your hair looks naturally gray—but brighter.” In other words, you want richness, not brassiness or a drab, matte finish.

The biggest trend right now is going from blond to really white, often with root shadowing, creating a dramatic contrast. “This is very big with young people,” Selma says.

The Cutting Edge

Fabulous color is one thing, but a stylish cut shows it off to its best advantage. The Master Stylist notes that blunt cuts are still in, while versions of the 70’s shag cut are the latest trend happening on the scene.

Bangs are back by popular demand. Everything from blunt bangs, textured bangs, and curtain bangs. The advantage of the new bang variety, are being “really flattering on any shape face.” When in doubt seek an H2O Salon Spa professional for the look that’s best for you.

The most-requested cut is just off the shoulder. “Bobs are number-one right now, moving away from ‘shattered’ ends. But even with long hair, a blunt cut, with a clean line across the bottom, looks really fresh.”IMG_4869

Blunt cuts look especially sharp with sleek, straight hair. Curly girls have options. Keratin treatments not only tame frizzies, they enhance any hairstyle or type of hair with lots of shine.
